Indeed no sacred cow, Government through the Attorney General, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda has overturned an order issued early this month, giving a 60-days Amnesty to crooked companies and individuals who defrauded government.

Nyirenda told local media that the order is no longer effective following a directive from President Lazarus Chakwera that the amnesty be reviewed taking into account legal procedures.
The Attorney General stated that the President finds it illogical to provide an amnesty to those who defrauded government at this time when the country has embarked on zero tolerance fight to graft.
“The president is very serious in ensuring that the battle against all evils of corruption is won as such the amnesty be reviewed taking into account legal procedures,” stressed Nyirenda.
In his special address to the nation on Monday which also dissolved the Cabinet, President Chakwera said he does not support the amnesty idea considering how much some selfish individuals have defrauded government of its financial resources.
