The United Transformation Movement (UTM) which is a major partner to Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in the Tonse Alliance led government has disassociated itself from social media reports that it is relocating to opposition benches in parliament.

In a press statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo, the party described the reports as concocted dark propaganda and a mountain of malignant fantasies from ill minds.

“The UTM has come a cross some concocted dark propaganda that is circulating on social media that UTM members of Parliament have written the Right Honourable Speaker to allocate them on the opposition benches: this is false it is just a mountain of malignant fantasies from ill minds.

“The UTM would like to reiterate that it remains steadfast and committed to its mission of serving the people of Malawi who ushered the current government into office to lead the nation,” reads the statement.
