SAfD Condemns The Executive’s Arrogance

As Malawians continue witnessing an unprecedented degree of strange government and state operations, one of the non governmental organizations in the country, Social Action for Development (SAfD) has strongly condemned the undemocratic tendencies demonstrated by the executive arm of the Tonse Alliance Government.

The condemnation comes in the wake of continued arrests, release on bail and victimization of the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Martha Chizuma, as some of the many incidences of strange government and state operations under this regime.

In a press release issued on Thursday signed by SAfD’s Executive Director, Isaac Cheke Ziba, described government’s strange operations as hallmarks of disregard for the rule of law where disorder, unprocedure and inconsistency are the ingredients.

The most victimized public servant

“Malawians are on their own, there is probably no interest to well and truly serve them by the Tonse Government, under His Excellency Dr Lazarus MacCarthy Gakwera who may be too much of an amateur at the top of Government and State business or probably needs to call for help other than presiding over sloth as seen it finding him quite minimalistic in decidedness and actions he takes on issues,” reads part of the statement.

SAfD also pointed out that the civil and public services are in a state of listlessness and indolence since the head of that aspect of governing, Colleen Zamba, remains ill-prepared and less than-adequate to carry on her duties hence maintaining the stance that she needs to step down or the President himself should fire her immediately if she can not possess the nobility to step aside on free will and volition.

In conclusion the statement points to the backdrop of Affordable Inputs Programrne (AIP) shenanigans where public resources were reported to have been drained to unknown swamps, the NOCMA vis-å-vis Hellen Buluma saga, the reckless mishandling of findings and determinations of legal statutory bodies.

Even the donor community acknowledged the impunity

“The Offices of the Ombudsman, the Human Rights Commission are now less-than-convincing on the story of a windfall of $6.8 billion from Bridgin Foundation, now the recklessness with which the government has mis-handled the Director of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Ms. Martha Chizuma, and we vehemently condemn her dehumanizing and brutal arrest,” concludes the statement
