Tomorrow, Wednesday, lawyer Davie Lameck will apply for the release on bail of his client, social media influencer Julius Mithi, as police investigations continues.

Mithi got arrested following the National Registration Bureau (RBM and Malawi Electoral Commissions complaints posted on his Facebook post on March 19 2025, alleging that 1,152,091 Malawian eligible voters got deleted in the systems.

National Police spokesperson Peter Kalaya told the Nation Online that Mithi, will be taken to court within 48 hours, likely to answer offensive communication charges under the Electronic Transactions and Cyber Security Act.

The police Publicist also stayed that many things have happened since the publication of Mithi’s post.

“What he posted, and elections are an activity that is very emotive. Anything wrong about them can plunge the country into chaos. He will be taken to court within 48 hours,” said Kalaya.

Meanwhile, Mithi who is very critical to the Malawi Congress Party led government is being kept at Mzuzu Police station.
