In a surprise move, Shora Kawonga has resigned from his position as Secretary General of the National Patriotic Party, effective immediately.
In a letter addressed to party president Dr. Daniel Dube, Kawonga cited his desire to “embrace new challenges” and allow others to contribute to the party’s growth, without specifying the reasons behind his decision.
“It has been a pleasure working with you and the team, but I believe it is time for me to move on and give others, perhaps even more capable than myself, the chance to contribute to the growth and success of the party,” writes Shora.
NPP officials have not issued an immediate response to Kawonga’s resignation, leaving many to speculate about the implications of this sudden departure.
