Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (MERA) have adjusted upwards the pump fuel prices by an average of 33.16% effective midnight
MERA cites changes in global petroleum prices and exchange rates as reasons for the increase though likely to impact transport costs and the overall economy.

Following the adjustments, here are the effected new prices:
– Petrol: K3,499 per liter, up from K2,530
– Diesel: K3,500 per liter, up from K2,734
MERA board chairperson Charles Kambauwa announced the adjustment, which comes almost two years after the last price revision in November 2023. .
This move follows a recent trend of rising fuel prices, with LPG prices increasing by 15.25% last month to K3,740 from K3,245.
