Mzuzu City Hammers coach Elias Chirambo has downplayed fears of relegation from the TNM Super League, expressing confidence in his team’s ability to secure a spot in next year’s top-flight football.

Speaking after their hard-fought 1-0 win over Dedza Dynamos, Chirambo remained defiant)

“We are slowly getting there despite some injuries that have affected our area of selection… Hammers is going nowhere, we cannot be relegated no matter what! (sitikuchoka mu Super League)”  Chirambo declared.

Dedza Dynamos coach Alex Ngwira attributed his team’s struggles to injuries and disciplinary issues.

“Injuries are derailing progress… most of our prolific attacking players got injured while some were serving various bookable offences… but we’ll survive at all cost.” Said Ngwira.

Mzuzu City Hammers have moved up the table, tied with Moyale Barracks on 20 points from 20 games, though the soldiers from the third Battalion of the Malawi Defence Forces have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Songwe Border United, who earlier announced the suspension of their coach Robert Nyambise, claimed their first win of the season, beating Chitipa United 1-0.
