Mighty Wanderers FC has sent a strong message to football enthusiasts in the country after securing back-to-back victories against their arch-rivals, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC.

On Sunday, Wanderers outclassed Bullets 1-0 in the FDH Cup semifinal at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre, adding to their 3-0 win in a TNM Super League tie earlier this season. The Nomads now lead Bullets 5-0 in all competitions this season.

The resounding victory has been hailed by commentators, with Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira describing it as “heartbreaking to the fainted hearts in the Bullets family.”

Social media personality Gerald Kampanikiza congratulated striker Promise Kamwendo on his impressive performance, saying “Finally, Promise has prevailed in a grudge derby match.”

Bullets coach Peter Mponda acknowledged the pain his team’s supporters are feeling after three losses to Wanderers this year.

“I am aware of the pains Bullets supporters are subjected to… we must persevere and remain focused,” he said, expressing hope that the team will soon return to winning ways.

Some football enthusiasts believe that Bullets’ consecutive losses to Wanderers are a reflection of the team’s struggles, which may be impacting the Malawi National Team’s performance in continental competitions.

Radio commentator Kondanani Njakwa wondered if the national team’s dominance by Bullets players and coaching staff is a contributing factor to their lackluster results.

The last weekend’s win has also seen Wanderers top the 16-team TNM Super League table, with the team now poised for a strong finish to the season.
