Malawi has been chosen as one of five pilot African countries to implement the FIFA Talent Development Scheme Talent Identification Project, marking a significant milestone in its football development pathway.

FAM President Fleetwood Haiya announced on his official Facebook page that Mattar Mboge and Stephen Morrow from FIFA were in the country for a follow-up visit to prepare for the pilot Talent Identification project.

“This initiative, a brainchild of Arsène Wenger, FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, focuses on systematically identifying and nurturing young talent,” Haiya stated.

Haiya further revealed that Malawi, Liberia, Mauritania, Senegal, and Tanzania were the only five African nations selected for this pilot phase.

“This selection reaffirms Malawi’s growing credibility in football development structures,” Haiya said.
