Malawi Congress Party member Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba has finally broken his silence on recent reports coming from the party that only members who have had positions in the party for over two years will contest at the party’s convention.
Mumba reiterated that “there is nothing wrong with policies that enhance sanity in political parties as long as those policies are not contradicting the constitution of the Party.”
Speaking in Mzuzu on on Sunday, Mumba made it clear about his wish to stand as MCP’s first deputy president at this year’s party’s convention stating that the punitive decision passed by the party’s National Executive Committee-NEC have not been communicated officially.
He was referring to the recent MCP NEC resolution reportedly made in Lilongwe that any member who has not served on any position at any level in the party for over 2 years is not eligible to contest for a position in the party’s National Executive Committee.

Meanwhile, preparations for engineer Vitumbiko Mumba’s manifesto launch have reached Conclusive stages, soon the date will be communicated.
